Forward Alex Gaffney has signed an AHL-only contract with the Hershey Bears that will cover the 2026-27 season. He will play the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign on an amateur tryout agreement (ATO).

The 23-year-old recently completed his fifth season of NCAA hockey as a graduate transfer at the University of St. Thomas after playing four seasons at Harvard, where he led the Tommies in scoring with 40 points (18G, 22A) in 38 games and made an appearance in the CCHA championship game against eventual champions Minnesota State. He was the second-highest scorer in the CCHA conference.

Previously, he helped Harvard to an ECAC championship in 2021-22, playing alongside current Hershey goaltender Mitch Gibson.
