The Utah Grizzlies have signed defenseman Gianni Fairbrother to a one-year deal, the team announced Tuesday.
Drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the third round of the 2019 NHL Draft, Fairbrother spent time with the Grizzlies and the Colorado Eagles last season. With Utah, Fairbother had one goal and two assists for three points in eight games. In one game with the Eagles, he went pointless.
Since turning pro at the end of the 2020-21 season, Fairbrother has played in 29 career AHL regular season games, putting up eight points.
While Fairbrother hasn't played many games over the past two seasons (he missed the entire 2022-23 season due to injury), he showed well in a brief stint with the Grizzlies last year. Fairbrother will look to build on that success when the Grizzlies open their season on Oct. 18.
