The Milwaukee Admirals had the chance to eliminate the Griffins but couldn't capitalize
The Grand Rapids Griffins have lived to see another day, winning Game 4 of the Central Division Finals to even the series against the Milwaukee Admirals.
With this being the closest series this round, the Griffins won Game 1 by a score of 4-2 before the Admirals took Games 2 and 3 by scores of 5-2 and 3-2.
Entering Game 4, the Admirals had the chance to book their ticket to the Western Conference Finals but ultimately couldn't punch it.
One positive takeaway for the Admirals in Game 4 was they were able to gain momentum early on. Although Grand Rapids led in the shot department at the end of the first, the Admirals were the only team to get on the board thanks to Egor Afanasyev.
Taking the momentum into the second, the Admirals took it to Grand Rapids, outshooting them 16-6 and scoring another goal (off the stick of Joakim Kemell) to put the team up 2-0 heading into the third.
It was the Admirals' inability to close that cost them as they gave up two power play goals (scored by Jonatan Berggren and Joel L'Esperance) less than ten minutes into the period.
With Grand Rapids having tied the game and with momentum on their side, Jonatan Berggren added his second and third goals of the period to complete the hat trick in a combined three and a half minutes of gameplay.
The Admirals weren't able to get anything back and lost Game 4 by a score of 4-2.
The fifth and deciding game of the series will go down Sunday at 5:00 P.M. ET.
