Former Laval Rocket defenseman Gustav Lindstrom has signed a five-year deal in Sweden with Djurgardens IF, it was announced last week.

Lindstrom, a 2017 second round pick of the Detroit Red Wings, spent this past season with the Rocket, scoring four goals and adding seven assists for 11 points in 42 regular season games. In a further 13 playoff games, he registered a goal and an assist.

Having come to North America in 2019, Lindstrom got into 174 career NHL regular season games with the Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens and the Anaheim Ducks. Over that span, he scored five goals and added 30 assists for 35 points.

With Lindstrom heading back to his home country for the next five years, it seems like a long shot that he will make his way back stateside. While he could never hold down a consistent role with one team, Lindstrom proved to be a reliable player when called upon and should factor heavily into Djurgardens' plans.
