Hershey Bears forward Garrett Roe has retired from professional hockey, it was confirmed late last week.
Roe, a product of Vienna, Va., spent the entire 2024-25 season with the Bears, scoring four goals and adding 14 assists for 18 points in 38 regular season games. With the Bears having made the playoffs, Roe got into four games with the team and collected two assists.
A 2008 seventh-round pick of the Los Angeles Kings, Roe has played in many different countries over the course of his pro career. Along with his time in the AHL (he played for the Bears and the Adirondack Phantoms), Roe played in Austria, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland.
With Roe officially hanging up his skates, he puts a bow on a long and solid pro career. Having spent the majority of his career playing in Europe, Roe established himself as a reliable player who could play in all situations and who showed his value whenever he stepped out onto the ice.
