Swoyer played for the South Carolina Stingrays while on loan

The Hershey Bears have recalled defenseman Colin Swoyer from his loan to the South Carolina Stingrays, it was announced Thursday.

Swoyer, a product of Hinsdale, Ill., played in 40 regular season games with the Stingrays where he scored two goals and added five assists for seven points. He also got into four regular season games with the Bears, collecting three assists.

Before joining the Bears this past season, Swoyer spent parts of two seasons playing for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins where he had 11 points in 41 regular season games.

Prior to turning pro at the end of the 2021-22 season, Swoyer played NCAA hockey with Michigan Tech, finishing with 72 points in 141 games from the backend while also being named to a WCHA Second All-Star Team and a CCHA Second All-Star Team.

With Swoyer being recalled from the ECHL, it is unlikely he sees game action with the Bears during the Calder Cup Finals.

Although Swoyer's contract runs out after the season, he could be a solid depth piece for the Bears to bring back next year.
