The Iowa Wild have signed forward Jack O'Brien to a professional try-out, it was announced Wednesday.

O'Brien, a product of Denver, Colo., has spent the entire year thus far in the ECHL with the Iowa Heartlanders where he has collected four goals and eight assists for 12 points in 24 games.

Before making the jump to the pro level this past year, O'Brien spent parts of five seasons playing junior hockey with the USHL's Lincoln Stars and the WHL's Portland Winterhawks. Over a total of 255 career WHL regular season games, O'Brien scored 63 goals and added 131 assists for 194 points.

During his brief tenure with the Stars, Gallagher accumulated one goal and six assists for seven points in 23 games.

With O'Brien joining the Wild, they have clearly been impressed with what they have seen this past season with the Heartlanders. O'Brien's game is looking better every time he steps out onto the ice and he should be able to contribute with the Wild during his PTO.
