Clay Stevenson, 24 years old, picked up his American Hockey League-leading sixth shutout of the season, blanking the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, who put up 28 shots in a 1-0 loss on Saturday.
A product of the BCHL's Coquitlam Express and Dartmouth College, the undrafted Stevenson worked his way from the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays, where he put a 2.54 GAA, .916 SP and three shutouts with 19 wins in 36 games in 2022-23.
Stevenson was rock-solid in three appearances for the Calder-Cup-winning Bears last season, going 3-0 with a 1.96 GAA and .924 SP, earning a longer look in the AHL in 2023-24.
He's made the most of his opportunity in the American League, banking a stunning 14-5-1 record with a 1.65 GAA, .939 SP and six shutouts, an all-time Hershey single-season record for a rookie netminder.
With the shutout of the WBS Pens last night, Stevenson passed Vitek Vanecek (2016-17) and Ron Hextall (1985-86) for sole possession of the franchise record.
