The New York Islanders have assigned forward Jesse Nurmi to the Bridgeport Islanders for the remainder of the season after Nurmi's OHL London Knights were defeated 4-1 in the first round series of the 2025-26 OHL playoffs by the Soo Greyhounds.

The 2023 fourth-round 113th overall pick of the Isles started the season with the club's ECHL affiliate team, the Worcester Railers after a knee injury prevented him to begin his pro career with their AHL affiliate club. The 21-year-old got off to a slow start producing a goal and an assist in 12 games.

He was then reassigned to the Knights on Dec. 30 after which he scored 31 points (14G, 17A) in 30 games.

The 5’11” lefty won an OHL title and Memorial Cup championship with London in the 2024-25 season.
