Former Rochester Americans forward Justin Richards has signed a one-year deal with the DEL's Dusseldorfer EG, it was reported Tuesday.
Hailing from Orlando, Fla., Richards spent the 2023-24 season with the Americans, scoring seven goals and collecting nine assists for 16 points in 58 regular season games. He also saw five playoff games with Rochester but was held pointless.
Prior to jumping into the pro game in 2020, Richards spent three seasons in the NCAA with Minnesota-Duluth. Since turning pro, Richards has played in 206 AHL regular season games, collecting 80 points in the process. Richards has also played in three career NHL games and put up two assists.
As he makes his way overseas for the first time in his career, Richards will most likely have the opportunity to slide into a big role with Dusseldorfer. While this past year was a bit of a down year compared to his production in 2022-23, Richards could be intriguing free agent next summer if he can put up solid numbers in the DEL.
