Former Idaho Steelheads forward Kaleb Pearson has signed a one-year deal with the Texas Stars, it was announced late last week.

Pearson, a product of St. Marys, Ont., joined the Steelheads after his collegiate season ended with the University of Prince Edward Island (U Sports). In a total of 21 ECHL regular season games, Pearson scored 11 goals and added 10 assists for 21 points.

Throughout his four-year U Sports career, Pearson suited up in 90 career games for the Panthers, putting up 46 goals and 43 assists for 89 points. Prior to that, he suited up in GOJHL (St. Marys Lincolns & Stratford Warriors) as well as the OHL (Owen Sound Attack).

As Pearson signs with the Stars, he has a real opportunity to grab a spot in the AHL and stay there. Although his pro career hasn't even lasted a full season, Pearson proved he's a difference maker at the ECHL level and has earned a shot to make the jump to Texas.
