A slew of notable players were called up to the NHL on Friday.
David Rittich, a veteran of 172 NHL games with the Jets, Predators, Maple Leafs, and Flames, has been recalled from the Ontario Reign of the AHL on an emergency basis following an injury to goaltender Pheonix Copley.
Rittich, 31, is 7-6-3 through 16 games with the Reign this season, putting up a 2.63 GAA and .901 SP with three shutouts.
Shane Wright is getting another chance for a longer looker with the Seattle Kraken.
The fourth overall selection in the 2022 NHL Entry draft has nine goals and 16 points in 18 games with the Coachella Valley Firebirds this season.
In three games with the Kraken in '23-24, Wright has no points and a minus-three with limited ice time in each contest.
In addition to the recall of Wright, the Kraken have demoted forward Tye Kartye to the Firebirds, while placing veteran Jaden Schwartz on LTIR.
Adam Edström could see his first taste of NHL hockey.
The 23-year-old center was recalled today by the New York Rangers. Through 21 games with the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, Edström has put up seven goals and nine points.
The sixth-round pick of the Rangers in 2019 split time between the AHL and the SweHL last season, with a combined 20 points in 45 games.
