The Laval Rocket have signed defenseman Conner McDonald to an amateur try-out, it was reported Sunday.

McDonald, who just finished his fourth season with the University of British Columbia, scored four goals and added 18 assists for 22 points in 27 regular season games. In a further five playoff games, he added four points.

A product of Delta, B.C., McDonald appeared in 99 U Sports games across his time as a Thunderbird, putting up 10 goals and 36 assists for 46 points. Before making his way to the Canadian university level, McDonald spent parts of six seasons playing in the WHL with the Kamloops Blazers, Edmonton Oil Kings and the Kelowna Rockets.

With McDonald joining the Rocket, he will be getting a solid opportunity to begin his pro career. As someone who has played well over his time in U Sports, McDonald has the skills needed to make an impact at the pro level.
