Nijhoff has spent the entire season in the ECHL

The Laval Rocket have signed forward Logan Nijhoff to a professional try-out, it was reported Saturday.

Nijhoff, who is in his third full season of pro hockey, has spent the entirety of the year so far with the ECHL's Trois-Rivieres Lions. In 43 games, he has scored 15 goals and added 19 assists for 34 goals.

A product of Comox, B.C., Nijhoff already had quite a bit of AHL experience under his belt, having seen 19 games with the San Diego Gulls across two seasons as well as spending all of last year with the Rockford IceHogs.

Through his 50 AHL regular season games, Nijhoff has collected four goals. Prior to making the jump to the pro level, Nijhoff spent parts of six seasons in the WHL with the Regina Pats.

With Nijhoff getting another look at the AHL level, he will be motivated to show he can stick full time once again. As someone who is not afraid to go the dirty areas, Nijhoff has the ability to play up and down a lineup and could be an under the radar player for the Rocket.
