Boulton split this past season between the OHL and NAHL

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms have signed forward Sawyer Boulton to a two-year contract, the team announced Wednesday.

Boutlon, a native of Huntington, N.Y., spent this past season playing for the Rochester Jr. Americans (NAHL) and London Knights (OHL). In 10 games with the Americans, Boulton registered five points. With the Knights, Boulton had three goals and two assists for five points in 40 regular season games.

With the Knights advancing to the Memorial Cup, Boulton got into 16 playoff games, registering an assist in the process.

Although Boulton has another year of junior eligibility, he made the decision to turn pro. With every OHL team only allowed to carry three over-age players, Boulton might have been on the outside looking in.

"It’s a big honor," Boulton said in the team's official press release. "I always wanted to get to this level and I’m glad it’s Philly that gave me the opportunity to be here."
