The Charlotte Checkers have signed former Holy Cross forward Liam McClinskey to a two-year deal, the team announced Thursday.

McClinskey will join the team on an amateur try-out for the rest of the year.

A product of Pearl River, N.Y., McClinskey has been one of the standout NCAA players across the past couple of seasons and put up an impressive 24 goals and 30 assists for 54 points in 40 games with the Crusaders this past year.

Over a combined four NCAA seasons with Holy Cross and Quinnipiac, McClinskey scored 64 goals and added 62 assists for 126 points in 121 career games. Before making the jump to the NCAA, McClinskey played two years in the NCDC with the Jersey Hitmen.

With McClinskey inking a deal with the Checkers, they will be getting a highly skilled forward who should have the ability to adapt to the AHL right away. Capable of creating plays for himself and others, McClinskey is a great add to the Florida Panthers system.
