(Source: Robert Edwards-Imagn Images)The Henderson Silver Knights beat the San Jose Barracuda 5-1 to advance to the Pacific Division Semifinals in the 2026 Calder Cup Playoffs where they will face the Colorado Eagles.
In a game where missed opportunities will come back to haunt, and weaknesses will be taken advantage of, Henderson certainly made San Jose pay.
While the first goal scored by Henderson may be considered "unlucky" as it was off a rebound, the second and the game-winning goal for Henderson was scored when San Jose found themselves in a 5v3 penalty-kill situation for 1:22 minutes. Nine seconds in, Silver Knights forward Raphael Lavoie put the puck in the back of the net to give Henderson the 2-0 lead and never look back.
The Barracuda would eventually get one goal back, but with the Knights scoring an insurance goal and then two empty-netters, the ship had sailed on this season for San Jose.
The shot differential was close at 32-27 favoring the Silver Knights. However, the Barracuda had three opportunities on the power play and put up only four of their 27 shots in those situations, all which did not find the back of the net.
Henderson goalie and AHL All-Star Carl Lindbom made 26 saves off 27 shots to put up a save percentage of 0.963.
Despite the loss, San Jose goalie Laurent Brossoit made 27 saves off 30 shots to put up a save percentage of 0.900.
