Nousiainen was placed on waiver for the purpose of contract termination

The Los Angeles Kings have placed defenseman Kim Nousiainen on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination, the team announced Wednesday.

A 2019 fourth-round pick of the Kings, Nousiainen spent this past season playing for the Ontario Reign where he had nine assists in 52 regular season games. He also added two assists in eight playoff games.

Nousiainen made the move to North America following the end of his Liiga season in 2021-22 and has been with the Reign since - scoring two goals and adding 17 assists for 19 points in 105 games across parts of three seasons.

While it is unknown where he will play next season, Nousiainen will most likely head back over to Finland. With the team looking in a different direction, this most likely ends Nousiainen's career stateside (at least for the time being).
