The Los Angeles Kings signed forward Taylor Ward to a one-year extension, the team announced Friday.
The contract will see Ward make $775,000 at the NHL level and $165,000 if he is in the AHL.
Ward, who recently wrapped up his second full season with the Ontario Reign, was a key contributor throughout the year.
Ward finished the regular season with 11 goals and 32 points in 71 games while also putting up seven points in eight playoff games, tying for first on the team in playoff points.
Over parts of three seasons with the Reign, Ward has 76 points in 172 games.
Prior to turning pro, Ward played four seasons in the NCAA at the University of Nebraska-Omaha where he had 57 goals and 58 assists for 115 points in 131 games. He also served as an assistant captain in his final two seasons with the Mavericks.
Having continually gotten better over the past two seasons, Ward has the potential to play himself into a call-up option as soon as next season.
