The Moose were swept by the Texas Stars in the first round of the playoffs

The Manitoba Moose were the first team eliminated from the 2024 AHL Playoffs, after a two game sweep at the hands of the Texas Stars.

While several teams have the chance to join them soon, thanks to a quick best of three first round series format, the Moose were ousted first and struggled to create momentum against a strong Stars team.

In their quick two-game battle, the Stars walked away with 6-3 and 2-0 wins respectively, with offensive contributions from Mavrik Bourque, Curtis McKenzie, Christian Kyrou and Fredrik Karlstrom amongst many.

While the Moose must be disappointed that their season is over, there were many positive developments this past season that makes the future bright.

Brad Lambert, the 30th overall pick of the Jets in the 2022 NHL Draft, led the Moose with 55 points in his first full AHL season and should get a long look to make the Jets out of training camp next year.

Nikita Chibrikov, the Jets second-round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, had an impressive rookie season, finishing with 47 points in 70 games and could make some noise at Jets training camp as well.

Organizational defensive depth also shone through for the Moose this season, with Kyle Capobianco being named the AHL's most outstanding defenseman as well as Ville Heinola taking important steps towards rounding out his game.

The Stars are slated to now take on the Milwaukee Admirals in the second round, with the first game slated to get underway on May 2.
