
The Pittsburgh Penguins and Minnesota Wild have pulled off a Thursday trade with AHL implications. Multi-team veteran Will Butcher has been sent to the Wild for forward Maxim Cajkovic.
Butcher, 29, has recorded seven points in 14 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the American this season. The blueliner signed a one-year, two-way contract with Pittsburgh on July 3, 2023. He has amassed 114 points through 275 career NHL games with New Jersey and Buffalo
Butcher has tallied 50 points in 79 AHL games with Texas and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He's set to report to the Iowa Wild.
Cajkovic, 23, put up three points in five games with the Iowa Wild and collected 18 points in 20 games with the Iowa Heartlanders in the ECHL this season. The Wild acquired Cajkovic and Patrick Maroon in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft on July 2, 2023.
