
Multi-year AHL and NHL veteran Jaroslav Halak is joining the Carolina Hurricanes on a PTO, the club announced today.
The team shared that goaltender Frederik Andersen is dealing with a blood clotting issue and is currently no timetable for is return, leading to a void in net.
The 38-year-old Slovakian, drafted 271st overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2003 has previously suited up for the Hamilton Bulldogs and Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL.
He's played in 581 NHL games with the Canadiens, Blues, Capitals, Islanders, Bruins, Canucks and most recently the New York Rangers, where he backstopped the original six club for 25 games, finishing with a respectable 2.72 GAA and .903 save percentage.
