The New Jersey Devils have assigned goaltender Nico Daws to the Utica Comets, the team announced Sunday.

The move comes after goaltender Jacob Markstrom was activated off of injured reserve.

Daws, a 2020 third round pick of the Devils, has split time this season between both the AHL and NHL. In five appearances with the Devils, Daws has posted a 2-1-0 record to go along with a 0.88 GAA and a .966 SP. While with Utica, Daws has collected a record of 6-15-2, a 3.37 GAA and a .891 SP through 23 appearances.

Since turning pro and joining the Devils organization in 2021, Daws has played in 51 career NHL games, putting up a record of 21-23-1, alongside a 2.95 GAA and a .899 SP.

Although Daws was reassigned to the AHL, his play is bound to have impressed Devils' management. Still just 24 years old, Daws should see more time with the Devils in 2025-26 and could seize a starting role over the next few years.
