Hatakka spent time with both the Devils and Utica Comets in 2023-24
The New Jersey Devils have re-signed defenseman Santeri Hatakka to a one-year, two-way deal, the team announced Monday.
The deal will see Hatakka make $775,000 at the NHL level and $125,000 at the AHL level with $150,000 in guaranteed money.
Drafted in the sixth round of the 2019 NHL Draft by the San Jose Sharks, Hatakka joined the Devils in the deal that saw Timo Meier also join the team.
In 2023-24, Hatakka spent time with both the Devils and the Utica Comets. With the Devils, he collected two assists in 12 games. When in the AHL with the Comets, Hatakka scored five goals and added 15 assists for 20 points in 48 regular season games.
While the Devils bolstered their D core in free agency, Hatakka showed well in his brief stint last year. As Hatakka re-joins the Devils, he will have a strong opportunity to try and earn a spot out of training camp.
