New York Rangers goaltending prospect Olof Lindbom has signed a one-year deal with Pelicans of the Liiga, it was announced Friday.
Drafted by the Rangers in the second-round of the 2018 NHL Draft, Lindbom spent this past season playing with the Hartford Wolf Pack and Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL).
In 29 games with the Cyclones, Lindbom posted a 10-15-3 record to go along with a 3.56 GAA and a .884 SV%. He also appeared in six regular season games with Hartford where he had a 1-3-1 record, a 2.37 GAA and a .916 SV%.
Having come over to North America prior to the 2022-23 season, Lindbom heads back overseas after struggling to find his game.
While the Rangers had high hopes for Lindbom, things never really clicked for him as he appeared in only eight career AHL games. Lindbom was entering the offseason as a restricted free agent and this move likely signifies the end of his time chasing a spot in the NHL.
