Talented, yet underproducing blueliner Philip Broberg is reportedly looking to break away from the Edmonton Oilers

Philip Broberg's time in Oil Country could be coming to an end.

The 22-year-old Swede, the eighth overall pick by the Edmonton Oilers in 2019, has reportedly been granted permission to seek a trade out of the organization, according to various reports.

According to Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli, the Oilers have granted Broberg's camp to seek a trade, with reports of "solid interest" from prospective clubs. Seravalli further notes that Edmonton "isn't interested in getting a pick back," preferring a player, ideally one in a similar situation.

The Orebro native has alternated time between the Oilers and AHL's Bakersfield Condors in his pro career. He's collected 11 points in parts of three seasons with the Oilers, owning a minus-two plus/minus with no points in 10 games this season.

At the AHL level, Broberg has amassed 29 points in 42 games, including two in four games this season.
