The Ottawa Senators have re-signed forward Matthew Highmore to a one-year extension, PuckPedia reported Wednesday.
The deal will see Highmore make $775,000 at the NHL level and $400,000 at the AHL level.
Highmore, a product of Halifax, N.S., split this past season between Ottawa and Belleville. In seven games with Ottawa, he registered two assists. With Belleville, Highmore scored nine goals and added 22 assists for 31 points in 43 regular season games.
Highmore also appeared in the Calder Cup playoffs with Belleville, being held pointless in seven games.
Since turning pro prior to the 2017-18 season, Highmore has suited up for the Chicago Blackhawks, Vancouver Canucks, St. Louis Blues, and the Senators.
As Highmore gets set to return to the Sens for his second season, he will be one to watch for when it comes to a bottom-six role. He played well in his brief stint last season and has proven he can produce in the NHL.
