Guenette was a 2019 seventh-round pick of the Senators

The Ottawa Senators have re-signed defenseman Max Guenette to a one-year, two-way contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.

The deal will see Guenette make $775,000 at the NHL level and $120,000 at the AHL level.

A product of Sainte-Foy, Que., Guenette spent this past season playing for both Ottawa and Belleville. In 58 AHL regular season games, Guenette scored seven goals and added 27 assists for 34 points. In seven games with Ottawa, Guenette was held pointless.

Guenette played for Belleville in the Calder Cup Playoffs as well where he had an assist in seven games.

Drafted by the Senators in the seventh round of the 2019 NHL Draft, Guenette played his junior hockey in the QMJHL with the Val-d'Or Foreurs, collecting 25 goals and 81 assists for 106 points in 227 regular season games.

As the Senators hope to make a push towards making the playoffs next year, having depth options is always a positive. Guenette has steadily improved over the last few seasons and could play himself into an everyday role in training camp.
