Ottawa Senators defenseman Jacob Larsson has signed with Switzerland's Rapperswil-Jona next year, it was announced yesterday.
Larsson, a product of Ljungby, Sweden, spent the entire season playing for the Belleville Senators where he had seven goals and 26 assists for 33 points in 61 regular season games. He also added five assists in seven playoff games.
A 2015 first-round pick of the Anaheim Ducks, Larsson spent five years in the Ducks organization before joining the Senators prior to the 2022-23 season.
In 172 NHL games, Larsson had three goals and 21 assists for 24 points across parts of six seasons. He also had 102 points in 278 games in the AHL.
As Larsson takes his talents overseas, he will have the opportunity to play a big role for Rapperswil-Jona. While he most likely would have drawn interest from other NHL teams, Larsson knows he will play a big role compared to having to compete for a spot in training camp.
