The Providence Bruins have signed goaltender Pierce Charleson to a professional try-out, the team announced Wednesday.
Hailing from Aurora, Ont., Charleson has split time this season between the ECHL's Greenville Swamp Rabbits and Niagara University. Across four ECHL appearances, Charleson has posted a record of 0-2-1, a 3.21 GAA and a .889 SP. In 34 games with the Purple Eagles, he posted a record of 18-13-3 to go along with a 2.76 GAA and a .921 SP.
Throughout his five NCAA seasons with Niagara, Michigan State and Alaska Fairbanks, Charleson posted a stat line of 35-36-6, a 2.83 GAA and a .912 SP.
As Charleson joins the Bruins, he could have the chance to see a game or two with the team. Having played well with the Purple Eagles this season, Charleson proved he deserved a look in the pro game and has earned the opportunity to showcase his talents at the AHL level.
