
Danielson was the Red Wings' 2023 first round pick
The Detroit Red Wings have assigned forward Nate Danielson to the Grand Rapids Griffins, the team announced Saturday.
Danielson, the Red Wings 2023 first-round pick (ninth overall) spent this past season playing with the Portland Winterhawks and Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL.
Danielson had 26 points in 26 games with the Wheat Kings before being moved to the Winterhawks at the trade deadline. After joining the team, Danielson was one of their best players, scoring 12 goals and adding 41 points in 28 regular season games. He followed that up with 24 points in 18 playoff games before the Winterhawks were eliminated.
Over his four years in the WHL, Danielson has scored 83 goals and added 134 assists for 217 points in 199 games played.
With the Griffins currently up 1-0 in their series against the Milwaukee Admirals, Danielson will most likely get into game action. With this being his first foray into professional hockey, the Red Wings brass will be paying close attention to how Danielson adjusts.
