Chase De Leo is expected to sign a one-year deal in the KHL with Barys Astana, Sport Express' Ivan Bohun reported this past week.
Drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the fourth round of the 2014 NHL Draft, De Leo spent last season playing for the San Diego Gulls. Serving as captain of the team, he scored 15 goals and added 33 assists for 48 points in 52 regular season games.
Over the course of his nine-year pro career, De Leo has played in 494 career AHL regular season games, collecting 135 goals and 214 assists for 349 points. He has also seen seven NHL regular season games but hasn't registered a point.
With De Leo expected to head overseas, this will be the first time in his career that he has done so. Although the production has been there at the AHL level, De Leo has never been able to establish himself at the NHL level. Capable of creating for himself and those around him, De Leo should be a solid candidate to continue that production next season as well.
