MacNevin joins the IceHogs after spending the last three seasons as an assistant coach with the WHL's Kelowna Rockets

The Rockford IceHogs have hired Josh MacNevin as an assistant coach, the team announced Monday.

MacNevin, a native of Calgary, Alta., joins the team after spending the past three seasons as an assistant coach for the Kelowna Rockets (WHL).

Prior to getting into coaching just over a decade ago, MacNevin enjoyed a 13-year pro career that saw him play in the AHL, ECHL, WCHL, Italy, Austria, Germany, Sweden and Finland.

After retiring following the 2012-13 season, MacNevin jumped into coaching as an assistant coach at the University of Lethbridge (U Sports).

Following one season with the team, MacNevin joined the Lethbridge Hurricanes (WHL) in the same role. MacNevin would hold that role with the Hurricanes for seven seasons before joining the Rockets in 2021.

As MacNevin makes the jump into his first professional coaching gig, he will have the opportunity to work alongside Anders Sorensen. With the IceHogs expected to have many Blackhawks prospects on their team, MacNevin will be working to develop the next wave of Blackhawks talent.
