The Rockford IceHogs have re-signed goaltender Mitchell Weeks to a two-year extension, the team announced Monday.
A product of Barrie, Ont., Weeks spent time with the IceHogs and Indy Fuel (ECHL) in 2023-24. In five appearances with Rockford, Weeks posted a 3-2-0 record, a 2.80 GAA and a .892 SV%. With Indy, he posted a 15-10-6 record to go along with a 2.75 GAA and a .898 SV% in 33 regular season appearances.
Before turning pro at the end of the 2021-22 season, Weeks spent parts of three seasons in the OHL with the Sudbury Wolves, posting a 36-44-8 record, a 3.97 GAA and a .888 SV% in 95 regular season appearances.
As Weeks extends in Rockford for the next two seasons, he will have the opportunity to earn playing time with the IceHogs in training camp and throughout the regular season if he can post strong numbers. With Rockford giving him a multi-year deal, they clearly value Weeks and see him as a part of the future.
