Fitzgerald spent the past four seasons playing for the Chicago Wolves

The Rockford IceHogs have signed defenseman Cavan Fitzgerald to a professional try-out, it was announced Wednesday.

Hailing from Boston, Mass., Fitzgerald spent the past four seasons playing for the Chicago Wolves. In 60 regular season games this past season, Fitzgerald scored 12 goals and added 15 assists for 27 points.

Since turning pro in 2017, Fitzgerald has suited up for the Wolves, Charlotte Checkers and the San Jose Barracuda. During that span, he has collected 33 goals and 63 assists for 96 points in 310 career AHL regular season games.

Although Fitzgerald only inked a PTO with the IceHogs, he has a strong chance of earning himself a deal with the team. He had a great season at both ends of the ice last year and would be someone who the IceHogs could rely upon in all situations.
