Czech blueliner Radim Simek has been named the fifth captain in San Jose Barracuda franchise history.
The 31-year-old enters his third season with the Barracuda and his seventh overall in the Sharks organization, having joined the Barracuda in 2017-18. In that first season, Simek put up 27 points in 67 games after spending four seasons in the Czech league.
In 2023-24 Simek has put up 15 points through 31 games with the Barracuda. Overall Simek has 44 points in 100 AHL games, with a further 29 points in 209 NHL games with the Sharks.
Simek follows Bryan Lerg (2015-16), John McCarthy (2016-17/2019-20), Jaycob Megna (2020-21/2021-22) and Andrew Agozzino (2022-23) as captains of the Barracuda.
