The Seattle Kraken have recalled forward Jani Nyman from the Coachella Valley Firebirds, it was reported Monday.
A product of Valkeakoski, Finland, Nyman has yet to appear in an NHL game throughout his career. Having spent the entire season thus far with the Firebirds, he has collected 26 goals and 15 assists for 41 points in 55 games.
Drafted by the Kraken in the second round of the 2022 NHL Draft, Nyman came overseas at the end of last year, putting up two goals in five regular season games and one goal in nine playoff games for Coachella Valley.
Prior to coming over, Nyman spent parts of three seasons playing in Liiga with Ilves, accumulating 36 goals and 58 points in 87 contests.
As Nyman gets the recall to join the Kraken, he deserves to get a look with the team. He's transitioned seamlessly to the smaller ice surfaces in North America and looks to be on the fast track to being a full-time NHL player come 2025-26.
