Former Iowa Wild defenseman Simon Johansson has signed a two-year deal in Finland with Ilves, it was announced Tuesday.

Johansson, who was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the fifth round of the 2018 NHL Draft, spent the past two seasons playing for Iowa.

In 72 regular season games this past year, Johansson scored nine goals and added 12 assists for 21 points. During his time in the AHL, he collected 11 goals and 24 assists for 35 points in 136 career regular season games.

After only two seasons in North America, Johansson returns to the team he played for in 2021-22. Having already produced a 32 point season with Ilves, Johansson should come in and make an immediate impact for the team.
