Ellis split this season between the Springfield Thunderbirds and the Orlando Solar Bears
The St. Louis Blues have re-signed goaltender Colten Ellis to a one-year, two-way contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.
The contract will see Ellis make $775,000 at the NHL level and $85,000 at the AHL level.
Ellis spent this past season playing with the Springfield Thunderbirds and the Orlando Solar Bears (ECHL). In 16 games with Springfield, he posted a 7-9-0 record to go along with a 2.89 GAA and a .924 SV%. With the Solar Bears, he had a 12-5-1 record with a 2.45 GAA and a .923 SV% in 21 appearances.
Drafted by the Blues in the third round of the 2019 NHL Draft, Ellis played his junior hockey in the QMJHL with the Cape Breton Eagles, Rimouski Oceanic, and the Charlottetown Islanders.
While the Blues are set in net with Jordan Binnington and Joel Hofer, Ellis will have a good chance to get into more games with the Thunderbirds next season. After an impressive season at both the AHL and ECHL levels, it is hard to imagine the Thunderbirds not giving Ellis a long look in 2024-25.
