Kim Klement Neitzel-USA TODAY Sports - Tampa Bay Lightning Sign Emil Lilleberg to Two-Year Extension

The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed defenseman Emil Lilleberg to a two-year, one-way contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.

The deal will see Lilleberg make $800,000 at the NHL level.

A native of Sarpsborg, Norway, Lilleberg split this past season between the Lightning and the Syracuse Crunch. In 37 regular season games with the Lightning, Lilleberg registered five assists. With the Crunch, Lilleberg scored two goals and added 11 assists for 13 points in 33 regular season games.

Prior to coming to North America, Lilleberg played professional hockey with Sparta Sarpsborg (Norway) and IK Oskarshamn (SHL).

Originally selected by the Arizona Coyotes in the fourth round of the 2021 NHL Draft, Lilleberg never signed with the team. Having established himself as a reliable defender with the puck, Lilleberg should get more playing time as he enters his second season with the Lightning.
