The 2021 second-round pick is currently plying his skills with the Dallas Stars after spending most of the season with Texas
Former Texas Stars forward, and current Dallas Star, Logan Stankoven has won the Dudley (Red) Garrett Memorial Award as the AHL's most outstanding rookie.
The award was voted on by AHL coaches and players as well as members of the media. Stankoven was also voted to the AHL First All-Star Team and AHL All-Rookie team.
A second-round pick (47th overall) of the Dallas Stars, Stankoven had a very impressive rookie season in the AHL, making a seamless transition to the professional level after a prolific junior career with the Kamloops Blazers. In 47 games, the Kamloops, B.C., product had 24 goals and 33 assists for 57 points.
At the time of his call-up in February, Stankoven was leading the AHL in points, trailed shortly behind by fellow Dallas Stars prospect Mavrik Bourque.
With the end of the regular season coming this past Sunday, Stankoven officially finished first amongst rookies in points, despite playing almost 20 less games than his peers.
As the Stars currently battle the Vegas Golden Knights in the first round of the NHL Playoffs, Stankoven has seen the ice in both games of the series so far - collecting an assist in the process.
With the Stars championship window currently wide open, young talent like Stankoven and Bourque will only make the team more dangerous. The future is certainly bright in the Lone Star State.
