The 2020 first-round pick of the Stars lead the AHL in points this past season

Texas Stars forward Mavrik Bourque has won the Les Cunningham Award, awarded to the AHL's most valuable player.

The award was voted on by AHL players and coaches as well as members of the media. Bourque was also named a First Team AHL All-Star earlier this season.

The native of Plessisville, Que., Bourque had a season for the ages, leading the AHL in points as a 22-year old. Forming an impressive duo with fellow Stars prospect Logan Stankoven (before he was called up in February), Bourque finished the season with 26 goals and 51 assists for 77 points in 71 games.

Bourque has kept up where he left off in the first round of the playoffs, collecting four points in two games while helping the Stars take down the Manitoba Moose to advance to the second round.

With this being Bourque's second full season with Texas since turning pro, it appears this might be it for him at the AHL level. It is hard to imagine Dallas not giving him a run at the NHL level next season and beyond.
