The Dallas Stars have traded a package including prospect Artem Grushnikov for Chris Tanev in a three-team swap.

The Dallas Stars are bulking up for a hopeful playoff run.
The club traded a 2nd round pick, a conditional 3rd round pick and defensive prospect Artem Grushnikov to the Calgary Flames for veteran blueliner Chris Tanev. The New Jersey Devils retained 50% of Tanev's contract, earning a fourth-round selection in 2026 in the process, moving Cole Brady to Dallas in the deal.
Grushnikov, 20, a second-round draft selection of the Stars in 2021, has five points in 44 games with Texas of the AHL this season. The Russian scored 17 points in 65 games of his final season of junior hockey with the OHL's Hamilton Bulldogs.
Tanev, 34, will be a UFA this summer and is coming off his fourth year with the Flames. The shutdown defenseman has 185 points through 773 NHL games with Calgary and the Vancouver Canucks.
Tanev played in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose and Chicago Wolves, putting up 35 points over three seasons.
