Looft spent the end of the 2023-24 season with the Stars

The Texas Stars have re-signed defenseman Kyle Looft to a one-year deal, the team announced Monday.

Looft, hailing from Mankato, Minn., spent the 2023-24 season playing for the Stars and Bemidji State (NCAA). In a combined eight games with the Stars (between regular season and playoffs), Looft went pointless but he did collect 28 points in 32 games with the Beavers.

Along with his best season points-wise coming this past year, Looft was named to the CCHA First All-Star Team as well as CCHA Best Defensive Defenseman and Defenseman of the Year. Having played for the Beavers from 2019-2024, Looft had 15 goals and 38 assists for 53 points in 169 career games.

As Looft heads back to Texas, he will have the opportunity to play a solid role with the Stars in 2024-25. Having shown that he can make a difference at both ends of the ice, Looft should be a nice addition to the Stars blue line.
