Rifai has yet to see a game with the Maple Leafs this season
The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled defenseman Marshall Rifai from the Toronto Marlies, it was announced Monday.
Rifai, a product of Beaconsfield, Que., has only appeared with the Marlies this season, registering two goals and two assists for four points in 26 games. Having joined the Maple Leafs organization in 2022, Rifai has appeared in two NHL games but has not registered a point.
Before joining the Maple Leafs, Rifai played parts of three seasons with Harvard (NCAA), putting up six goals and 15 assists for 21 points in 71 career games.
With Rifai being recalled again, he has the possibility to draw into the lineup as the Maple Leafs deal with injuries on the backend. A defender who can handle his own in the defensive zone, Rifai impressed in his brief stint last season and could do the same this time around.
