The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed college free agent forward Luke Haymes to a two-year deal, the team announced Monday.

Having recently wrapped up his junior season at Dartmouth, Haymes will join the Toronto Marlies on an amateur try-out for the remainder of the season.

A product of Ottawa, Ont., Haymes was viewed by many as the top college free agent available, in part thanks to an impressive NCAA career. In 22 games this year, Haymes scored 12 goals and added six assists for 18 points.

Across a total of 83 career NCAA games, Haymes collected 41 goals and added 29 assists for 70 points while also being named to the ECAC First All-Star Team (2023-24) and All-Ivy League First Team (2023-24).

With Haymes now set to turn pro, he will be an intriguing add to the Maple Leafs system. Having lost numerous young players over the last few years at the trade deadline, the Leafs will have to remain creative to keep the pipeline full of talented players and this move certainly helps them.
