The Toronto Marlies have assigned defenseman Chas Sharpe to the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones, it was announced Sunday.
Sharpe, who is in his first pro season, has split time this year between the ECHL and the AHL, putting up 20 goals and 35 points in 51 games with the Cyclones while going pointless in three games with the Marlies.
A product of Orillia, Ont., Sharpe signed with the Marlies last year after having spent parts of four seasons in the OHL with the Mississauga Steelheads. Over that span, Sharpe scored 31 goals and added 85 assists for 116 points in 222 career regular season games.
As Sharpe goes back down to join the Cyclones, he will be heavily relied upon at both ends of the ice. Having transitioned seamlessly to the pro level, Sharpe could be a candidate to make the jump to the Marlies full time next season.
