Young is in his first season of pro hockey
The Vancouver Canucks have assigned goaltender Ty Young from the ECHL's Kalamazoo Wings to the Abbotsford Canucks, it was announced Sunday.
Drafted by the Canucks in the fifth round of the 2022 NHL Draft, Young is in his first season of pro hockey, having split time at both the AHL and ECHL levels this season. In five appearances with Abbotsford, he has posted a record of 3-2-0, a 2.41 GAA and a .915 SP. With the Wings, Young has a record of 8-7-1 to go along with a 2.27 GAA and a .934 SP in 17 appearances.
Before jumping to the pro level, Young spent parts of four seasons playing in the WHL with the Prince George Cougars, collecting a record of 44-35-8, a GAA of 3.36 and a .896 SP.
Although it can take time for goalies and players to adjust to the move from junior to the pros, Young has seemingly jumped right past it. Having looked solid at both levels this season, Canucks management must be keeping a close eye on Young for the future.
