The Vegas Golden Knights have assigned defenseman Lukas Cormier to the Henderson Silver Knights, it was announced Thursday.
Cormier, a 2020 third round pick of the Golden Knights, has not played a game this season due to injury.
In his second season in the Golden Knights' system last year, Cormier saw time in both the NHL and AHL. In two games with Vegas, Cormier collected an assist while putting up four goals and 20 points in 58 games with Henderson.
Across 120 career AHL regular season games, Cormier has accumulated 14 goals and 41 assists for 55 points. Before plying his trade in the AHL, Cormier spent parts of four seasons in the QMJHL with the Charlottetown Islanders.
With Cormier being assigned to the AHL, it is a good sign that he is nearing his return. As someone who is relied upon for his offensive game, Cormier has looked solid so far handling the puck in his short pro career and could soon seize a role on the Golden Knights blue line.
