Buffalo's Devon Levi will look to reignite his winning form with his debut trip to the American Hockey League with the Rochester Americans

Highly touted Sabres goaltending prospect Devon Levi will look to regain his form with the AHL's Rochester Americans.

Levi, a 2020 seventh-round pick of the Florida Panthers, was demoted to the American League yesterday after a rough start to the 2023-24 campaign.

A product of Northeastern University, Levi has put up subpar numbers in the first quarter of the season, with a 3.73 GAA and .876 SP through nine NHL starts with only three wins. In his past three starts Levi yielded 12 goals against, most recently allowing three on just 20 shots in a 7-2 drubbing by the New Jersey Devils.

He yields the crease to the white-hot Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, who currently sits on a 2.54 GAA and .918 SP, with three wins and a 1.67 GAA and .941 SP in the past two weeks, coming off a 1-goal against, 25 save performance against the elite New York Rangers last night.

Levi joins an Americans squad currently sitting 10th in the AHL and fifth in the Eastern Conference, who, despite a 10-5-2 record, currently sits with a -7 GF/GA differential.

It will be Levi's first taste of AHL action, and a welcome opportunity to get some reps in against credible opponents without the bright lights and fan/media scrutiny of the NHL level.

The 21-year-old was a stud at the junior level, putting up a 1.54 GAA and .952 SP with 21 wins through 34 games played with Northeastern U. in 2021-22, with another stellar campaign of 2.24 GAA and .933 SP the following season.

He helped lead Team Canada to a silver medal with a stellar tournament at the 2021 World Jr. Championship, endearing himself to fans and teammates alike by playing the bulk of the tournament with an injury.
